Robin Hackett remains in a class of her own creating music as eclectic as her background. Her songs are guitar driven and heart felt. As a young girl, she learned to play the guitar out of a book called "Learn to play the guitar in 10 days, and she did. Robin has been been writing songs her whole life. Her song "Hard Left" appear on the CBS HIt Comedy "How I met your Mother". This new born Texas singer/songwriter is doing it her way! The daze of planting oneself in one genre is long gone. Hackett's music leans across the board with it's foundation in what her friend and band member (Chuck Rainey) deemed Progressive Country. Put Robin in there along side Darius Rucker (formerly of Hootie and the Blowfish). She loves Keith Urban and grew up on Joni Mitchell, Sarah Vaughn, Steeley Dan and Richie Havens. Robin's guitar is glued to her hip. It is where her heart and soul come together. She is a one of a kind unique expression pouring love and heart in all of her performances. Keep a watch out for this Texas lady.

It’s more than just the distinctive, silky voice that has won Robin Hackett acclaim. She’s also a respected musician and accomplished songwriter brazenly paving the road with a genre of music she calls "urban folk/progressive country". In a world where creativity is not always at the forefront, Robin has been creating music as eclectic as her upbringing. Born the only daughter of an Air Force sergeant, Robin grew up along the Rhine River in a small German village. With no American television and too much time on her hands, she quickly gravitated toward an old beat up guitar and the book "Learn To Play the Guitar in Ten Days." It was then her creative journey was launched. "Not a day went by when my parents weren’t playing the likes of Joni Mitchell, John Coltrane, Wes Montgomery, Crosby Stills & Nash, and Nancy Wilson records, I just soaked in those sounds". Once Robin returned to the States she set her sights on New York City and immediately following college graduation moved to the Big Apple. It was in those first years that time seasoned her voice and experience seasoned the artist. Since making her musical debut with an acclaimed collection of songs in her first CD One Foot Barefoot, she’s won the hearts of Internet listeners worldwide. Her song Hard Left debuted on the CBS hit comedy "How I Met Your Mother". She also appeared on KDFW’s Good Morning Texas. In addition, the internet community voted Robin's song Sayin Goodbye as the #1 Jazz song on mp3.com and tunes Jimmy Dean and Come On Love as the # 2 and 3 best country/folk songs of the year. She appeared on the indie Rollingstone.com charts along with other notables such as K.D. Lang and Emmy Lou Harris. Robin was also a Lilith Fair Finalist. She has opened up for Elektra Recording artist Keb Mo’ and Woodstock legend Ritchie Havens. She studied songwriting with Roseanne Cash at the Omega Institute in New York. Robin was also featured on CNBC television and has appeared in Acoustic Guitar Magazine, PC Magazine, and Mac World Magazine. Today Robin lives near Dallas, TX and has been gathering a strong following playing to standing room only crowds. She loves Texas and is currently keeping the company of her new found favorites Keith Urban and Ray La Montagne via her iphone.© 2011 Robin Hackett

Robin and Jazz
"SHE SINGS JAZZ LIKE IT WAS INVENTED FOR HER AND FOLK LIKE SHE INVENTED IT" (Cd Baby listener Review!Robin says she cannot help it, she has to sing what comes out of her. Her childhood was filled with classical, jazz, folk, pop, country. She does not want to be pidgeoned holed into a certain genre to make others feel alright. She has performed in the World Famous JVC jazz festival in New York. Her song "More" was the title track on a Grammy nominated album by Jazz Singer Bregette Rideau, and her song Sayin Goodbye was voted Best Jazz Song on the internet by listeners.
